New Works by Vera Smirnova
Thursday, September 27th, 2018
Greetings! Today we bring you a nice variety of works from Palekh artist Vera Smirnova.
The sensational wall piece Nicholas II starts it off, and this a work that actually combines the efforts of two Russian artists, Smirnova and Anna Garusova. We have it hanging in our gallery at the moment and to be honest it creates such a classy image for the place that we are almost reluctant to sell it! Three boxes follow in today's exhibit and they are all great examples of this artist's exquisite craftsmanship and the care to detail that you will find in each and every work that she does. We also have some very fine miniatures that she painted on pendants, pins and rings -- lacquer art you can wear and that is more affordable. We should also mention that two recent Russian publications have come out recently that have works or information on this artist: "Master Artists: Palekh in Portraits" and "The Art of Palekh; a Treasure of World Culture". We have the first one that has a portrait of Smirnova on one of its pages inside, and you can buy it here. We don't have the second book yet, but we expect to get it soon and we will make it available then.
Thank you for visiting. Come back next week when we will have a showing of some reasonably priced pieces from Fedoskino and other villages.
