High Quality Giclee Prints
of original Russian Lacquer Box paintings
The word "giclee" derives from the french word "squirt". It is a computer-controlled printing process whereby microscopic dots of archival ink are sprayed onto a high quality paper or canvas. Because of the digital nature of the printing process, the last print in a limited edition will look as vibrant and precise as the first. Giclee printing has shown meteoric growth over the last several years in the art world, taking over from traditional methods like lithographs and screen printing. As long as the same care is exercised with them as one would use with any fine art work or reproduction, your giclee print will last for many decades.
Intuitively, it would seem that when taking a small drawing or object (in the case a Russian lacquer box) and blowing it up to a larger scale, a certain amount of detail would be lost. However, it is a great tribute to the talent and intricate workmanship of the Russian lacquer box artists that these reproductions, made to adorn the walls of your house, look as good as, if not better than, comparable paintings originally done at the larger size.
