Welcome to this week's showing, which features a number of older pieces including the box "Ivan Tsarevich and the Firebird" done by Aleksey Smirnov. This veteran Palekh artist has just celebrated his 85th birthday and has been painting boxes for many decades now. The box here dates back to 1977 when he was near his peak as a miniature painter. Smirnov is also the father of two other extremely talented Palekh artists, Vera Smirnova and Tatyana Smirnova. In addition to the Smirnov box, we have 8 other ones, all nicely done for the price.
