Lacquer Box Showing
Thursday, February 3rd, 2011
Good afternoon! If you think you have seen the work of Palekh artist Evgeniya Nebogatova, then you might take a look at these. Nebogatova has been known to create some epic masterpieces that are affordable to only the most fortunate of us. In thie showing, thouch, she brings us some of her best work on a slightly more modest scale, and at a much lower price. One Nebogatova's strengths is in painting the little creatures of the forest in a totally unique style. Here you will see dozens of them to admire. Some of these boxes have really interesting shapes, too, and each is constructed out of the highest quality papier mache (not the kind of papier mache you used to make as a kid, but a sturdier type that goes through a much longer process to make.) We hope you find something you like here and thank you for taking time out of your day to visit with us.
