Lacquer Box Showing
Thursday, January 7th, 2010
Welcome to our first of many showings during 2010! Today we have nine boxes to show you, all high quality works that are sure please. Fedoskino artist M. Pichugina starts us off with a fine depiction of the Emelya and the adventures he gets entangled in. Another artist from that village, P. Borisov, brings us a truly lovely sculpted piece showing the beginning of the "Frog Princess" fairy tale, and completing the first tier is a very creative work by Danchenko. That one is called North Palmyra, another name for the historic city of St. Petersburg, and you can see parts of that city in her hand and on her head! Those looking an unusual subject matter also might turn their attention to the large "Tsar with Beard" which seems to depict a scarcely painted Russian fairy tale. Thanks for joining us and be sure to come back next week when we will have a special exhibit of the works of Roman Chibisov, including some beautiful religious pendants that won't break your budget.
