Lacquer Box Showing - Boxes from Kholui

Welcome back! We have nine boxes from the village of Kholui to offer you today, depicting traditional fairy tales, old towns, and folk scenes. Leading off the showing, though, is "Catherine the Great", painted by Kholui artist N. Lopatkina. The box is a pretty good size and shows the Tsarina on horseback with St. Petersburg in the background. A very impressive work. But don't let this powerful empress keep you from taking a peek at the other boxes. High quality lacquer boxes from Kholui can be some of the art form's most beautiful, and the ones here are great examples of their colorful artwork.
