This photograph-like image depicts a young lady surrounded by countryside scenery. She seems to have paused in half step, as if something suddenly caught her attention. The gentle expression of her blue eyes, the poised stature, and airiness of her garment all contribute to the atmosphere of peace in this work. The blue and golden tones of her garment fit in perfectly with the colors of the early autumn fields and trees on the background. A piece of a red shawl wavering behind the lady's neck, and a white handkerchief in her hand add a sense of movement to the scene.

The box is made from papier mache. The sides and bottom of the box are of an unusual graded teal hue, and the sides are decorated with an elegant gold ornament. The box sits flat (no legs) and has a hinge on the left. The interior is traditional red. Name of the village is written on the inside part of the lid, and a "Made in Russia" sticker is attached to the bottom of the box. Mother-of-pearl near the top of the painting has worn off slightly, but otherwise lacquer is in good condition. We can cover the box with a clear-coat upon request.
