The Snow Maiden is standing in the midst of a winter forest, her hand raised to her heart, and her musing gaze fixed on something in the distance. Her sky blue winter coat and hat complement the more subtle blue hues of the surrounding scenery. A little bird is perched on a shrub in the foreground, echoing the colors of Snow Maiden's gloves with its red and golden yellow feathers. The scene has a wonderful combination of mysticism and realism, so characteristic of Fedoskino works.

The box is made from papier mache. It stands on four round legs and has a hinge on the left. The interior is red. The painting and sides of the box are decorated with a gold ornament. Signed with the name of the artist, village, and year. "Made in USSR" sticker is attached on the bottom. Lacquer has thinned in some places on the painting, but it is only noticeable when touched.
