Two young women are immersed in a conversation while out to fetch water. Walking among lush greenery and flowers, one of them is carrying the buckets and places her hand on the shoulder of her friend. A blue river runs behind them, and the church domes and wooden houses of the village are seen in the distance. Strokes of gold highlight the trees, flowers, and clothes of the women.
The box is made from high quality papier mache. It sits flat with no legs, opens without a hinge, and has a red interior. A simple golden ornament decorates the painting, and a more complex gold and silver ornmament surrounds the sides of the box. Signed with the name of the artist, village, and year.
