Having gathered berries, three young people stop to rest in a meadow. The lad is nestled under a tree, playing a tune on his flute. With a circlet of flowers on his head, he almost looks like a forest elf that came to charm the two musing maidens. The basket of berries, the flute, and the bast shoes of the young people taking prominence in this scene evoke a lively image of the countryside. The painting is adorned with a simple gold ornament, and a more elaborate ornament decorates the sides of the box.
The box is made from papier mache. It sits flat and has a hinge on the left. The interior is red. Signed with the name of the artist, village, and year (the signature is very faded). The box contains original USSR certificate from the Fedoskino Manufacture of Miniature Painting.
