The miniature was done by Evgeniya Negogatova, a Palekh artist notable for her distinctive style, though this box, with its fairy tale scene and dramatic black background sky, comes as close to a traditional Palekh work as we've seen from her. The box is made out of high quality papier mache and does not have a hinge. The interior is red. Signed with the name of the artist and village.
