A veritable zoo of animals and birds occupy this little house shaped box, chimney and all. Which animal is your favorite? They are all truly very cute and perhaps the sweetest of all is the rather dapper looking gent sitting on the window sill with a reptilian face. Nebogatova has a great talent in painting animals and the details on each one, especially their clothing, are really quite something. The fine lines of gold and silver bring a nice, but not overpowering, radiance to the scenes. The side of the roof opposite the chimney opens up to reveal a red interior. The work is made out of high quality papier mache and stands on four small round legs. The box is unmistakably from the hand of Nebogatova, but she did not sign the piece. I recently talked with her about this one and two other unusual shaped boxes that she did not sign in this round of boxes, and she said "Well, there wasn't a whole lot of room on the drawing areas themselves, so I was going to sign them at the bottom of the bases.... and then forgot". Three times!!! Well, three is a magical number so beautiful as it is, we are discounting the box for not having a signature. But if the buyer really does want one, we can send the base of the box back to Russia and have her sign it for an additional charge. In any event, we will include a certificate that gives the name of the work and the artist.
