The Russian witch Baba Yaga has never looked more menacing than on this box, painted by Fedoskino artist P. Govorun. But that small owl near her head is awfully cute and takes some of Baba Yaga's fright away. Govorun has done a great job in the details here including every wrinkle, fang, and white hair of the witch. The crookedness of tree branches adds to the overall haunted atmosphere. The box is framed by a thin gold ornament, and another one decorates the sides.

The box is made out of high quality papier mache and has a hinge on the left. Signed with the name of the artist and village.
