Tchaikovsky's famous ballet "Swan Lake" is presented in the glorious unique style of Palekh artist Evgeniya Nebogatova, who fills all sides of this large box with some very lovely images. It would be impossible to show this work and do it justice (and we are not too satisfied with the pictures here, so expect a few more in the days to come), but in person the work is nothing short of stunning. The amount of effort that went into all the details of this (and Nebogatova paints A LOT of details) is undoubtedly staggering. The highlight of the work could be the full piece orchestra that lines the bottom section of the box all the way around, culminating in the front with the dramatic gesture of the conductor rising above the rest. The stage itself is quite elaborate with ornate architecture, chandeliers, curtains, and more. But the exciting expressiveness of all the characters are what really fuels one's interest in the work, and for the time that you are viewing it, you are just glad to be alive. The box opens near the top and has a hinge. It is made out of high quality papier mache and a traditional red interior. The artist signed in on the top with her name, the village and year. You may not have a museum pedestal and vitrine in your home, but if you acquire this work, you may want to consider getting one to provide the perfect showcase for it.
