This lovely Silver Hoof scene from the village of Fedoskino has been a staple of Fedoskino art, having been done by a variety of artists for many years. In this one, the artist O. Kurganskaya applied shiny gold to the underside of the deer and an inlay of mother of pearl behind him. The combination of the silvery inlay and gold leaf is quite striking and gives this piece a more jewel-like quality than many that we've seen before of this theme. A modest gold ornament frames the scene, while a more elaborate one adorns the sides. The box is make out of high quality papier mache and has a hinge at the left. The interior is red. It is signed with the name of the artist, village and year.
