The wintry landscape around the majestic cathedral at Suzdal is painted on this gorgeous work by Fedoskino artist M. Tugarinov. Tiny tiny people stand in the snow before the splendor of this centuries' old structure. The cathedral has a beautiful iridescence to it, made possible from an inlay of mother of pearl. The whole scene has that unmistakeably Russian look to it and seeing at it, you feel as if you are there, if only for a second. The sides and bottom of the box are black and have a gold ornament. The box has a nice shiny surface, a red interior, and stands on legs carved around the bottom perimeter. It is made out of high quality papier mache and has a hinge. Signed at the bottom of the composition with the name of the artist, village and title.
