Old Man Winter looks from behind the tree at the girl who has been stranded in the forest. For being so good, he gives her a coat, and a treasure chest of jewels! The scene, painted by Palekh artist S. Lyakh, has that characteristic look from this village - black background, hair thin gold lines of gold and silver, and fine precision in the faces and other details. Very lovely! The box has two ornaments, one around the composition, the other adorning the sides. The box is made out of high quality papier mache, a red interior, and has a hinge at the top. It sits flat on the surface of the table. The box is signed with the name of the artist.
