Wild Boar (2008)from Fedoskino by D. TipyakovDimensions: 5.00" x 3.75" x 1.00"(12.70 x 9.53 x 2.54 cm) Gallery Price: $ 575.00 Internet Price: $ 525.00 None currently available |
In this largely monochromatic piece by Fedoskino artist D. Tipyakov, a wild boar rests his head on the ground, perhaps ready to root out some nuts or berries with his large snout. The size of the animal is massive, but this big galoot is totally charming, particularly because of his big ears, puffed out cheeks and sympathetic eyes. Tipyakov painted the composition not by using large patches of color, but rather with hundreds of very fine brush strokes throughout, a method which undoubtedly took many hours to do. A gold line ornament frames the drawing and there are two other ones on the sides. The box is made out of high quality papier mache and has a red interior. It is signed with the name of the artist, title, and year. Who can resist this guy!
