Gnomes at the Water Hole (2009)from Fedoskino by M. KhasanovaDimensions: 5.00" x 3.75" x 1.00"(12.70 x 9.53 x 2.54 cm) Gallery Price: $ 645.00 Internet Price: $ 595.00 None currently available |
A trio of gnomes gather some water from a break in the ice. One of them, though, falls flat on his back and is in danger of slipping into the freezing water. It's a good thing the gnomes thought of bringing a rope! They probably know that most everything is something of an adventure with them. The artist, M. Khasanova, paints this delightful scene in a setting that looks quite Russian with the log cabin and snow everywhere. Instead of the gnomes, one could easily imagine some quintessential Russian fairy tale characters like the Snow Maiden or Emelya standing nearby. The box has several line ornaments, one surrounding the drawing and two others on the sides. It is made out of high quality papier mache and has a hinge at the left. The interior is red. Signed with the name of the artist, village and year.
