Ivan grabs a feather from the fabled firebird in this small lacquer box from Fedoskino artist Kozlova. The glow in the feathers of the bird and in the clothing of Ivan is very attractive. There is also a fine dusting of gold emanating from the bird itself. (The pictures here didn't seem to capture all the gold and in the actual box, it looks much more like rays of light.) The sides and bottom of the box are black, and the interior is red. It sits flat on the surface of the table. The box is made out of papier mache and has a hinge. It is signed with the name of the artist and village.
