The iconic image of Jesus Christ looks over the Russian countryside. A highly radiant gold halo with three red gemstones bring a striking light around has face and into the scene. Glimpses of everyday life are painted around the Lord. Many have a uniquely Russian feel, including the church architecture at the top left, or the birch trees right below it. The drawing has a dot ornament around it, and there is a more elaborate ornament at the side. The box is made out of high quality papier mache. It does not have a hinge and lies flat on the table. It is signed with the name of the artist (Tanya Smirnova), the village and year. Smirnova also pens her distinctive insignia (TS) on the bottom of the box. A uniquely different religious scene.
