Lovely little work by one of Fedoskino's better known artists, Elena Khomutinnikova. A little girl holds a plate of food out for a number of exotic birds to feast on. The little green bird sitting at the edge of the plate may feel out of her league, but she needs to eat, too, and simply won't be intimidated by her more colorful avian relatives. The girl is painted mostly in shades of orange, including her frizzy hair flying out to the sides. Sitting among the dandelion seed balls, drifting in the air, the girl has a definite presence which can't be ignored. The artist extended the composition to the sides, as well, including the seed balls, each with a delicate dusting of gold. The interior is a dark beige and several more seed balls are drawn under the lid. The box is made out of high quality papier mache and has a hinge at the left. The artist signed her name on the bottom of the box along with the year of completion.
