Two maidens enjoy their time in the forest with the magical unicorn and several white doves. It looks to be springtime and there is a sense of joyfulness and renewal to this magical land and its inhabitants. The light pastel colors give a certain airiness to the composition, and it is as if the maidens and the unicorn could float off into their idyllic surroundings. The landscape slowly blends into the olive color on the sides and bottom. The interior is traditional red. The box is made out of high quality papier mache and has a hinge at the left. It is signed with the name of the artist (M. Pichugina), village and year.
