Boris and Gleb, sons of Prince Vladimir and the first Saints canonized in Kievan Rus, are shown together on horseback. The Hand of God is shown on the top right reaching out to these two martyrs who died for their faith and the good of the people. The box is well done with nice details and radiant gold in the armor and halos of the two. Several neatly done borders grace the top and sides of the high quality papier mache box. The box is hinged at the top and four small carved legs raise the bottom of the box off the surface of the table. The interior is traditional red.
