Fall (c.2008)from Fedoskino by L. SlaevaDimensions: 4.75" x 3.75" x 1.00"(12.07 x 9.53 x 2.54 cm) Gallery Price: $ 995.00 Internet Price: $ 895.00 None currently available |
Fedoskino artist L. Slaeva created this allegory of autumn which shows a young lady in the woods with golden fall leaves flowing down her long brown hair. An curious doe innocently looks on. The gold is radiant in several areas, but never overwhelms the image of the beautiful maiden and the rest of the drawing. A corresponding shiny patch of silver can be seen right below her shoulder. The trees and foliage in the background have a rather dreamy look to them and provide the perfect setting for this beautiful symbol of fall. A spotted golden leaf-like ornament decorates the top and sides. The background of the box is a very light and pale mixture of greenish blue colors. The box is made out of high quality papier mache and has a hinge at the left. It is signed on the bottom with the name of the artist, village and title. The artist, L. Slaeva, also has a box featured in the book Russian Lacquer Miniatures.
