This landmark on Red Square is magnificently painted by Fedoskino artist Osipov. Small groups of people stand in awe of this magnificent structure, which was originally commissioned by Ivan the Terrible back in the 16th century. The box has beautiful colors and fine details. There is also a perfectly inlayed piece of iridescent mother-of-pearl throughout the cathedral, something that will undoubtedly catch your eye. A bold line ornament adorns the sides. The box is black and has a hinge. The interior is red. The outer layers of lacquer have thinned a little revealing a complex pattern of brushstrokes and accentuating the artistic nature of the piece. It is not dated, but it was done approximately 10 years ago by Fedoskino artist Osipov. This St. Basil's Cathedral will undoubtedly occupy a distinguished place in some collection.
