This box shows Old Man Winter (Morozko) helping the girl who was banished into the cold woods by her step mother. She didn't complain, though, and now she is rewarded with the generosity of Morozko, receiving a warm coat, jewels, and even some new found friends in the form of the rabbits and fox! The box has a beautiful look to it. Both Morozko and the girl are drawn with vivid colors that seem to pierce through the wintry landscape, dotted with hundreds of silver dots that resemble snow. Meanwhile, the warm coats of Morozko and the girl, and the fur of the fox, are accented with fine gold lines. There are two skillfully drawn ornaments on the top and sides. The box is made out of high quality papier mache, does not have a hinge, and is in great shape with a nice glossy sheen and no discernable flaws. It sits on four small round legs. Signed with the name of the artist, village and year.
