Emelya catches a veritable whopper! And the fish turns out to be a great catch in more ways than one. We love the expression on his face on this box, his eyes and mouth say it all! The drawing has a colorful and fresh look to it which is perfectly in keeping with the wintry environment it depicts. Gold leaf has been applied to the background houses and cupolas, as well as the eyes, scales, and crown of the fish. The ice behind the fish, meanwhile, has a bright shimmer of silver. The box is made out of high quality papier mache and sits on four small round legs. It has a hinge at the left. On the bottom of the drawing it is signed by the name of the artist (I. Medvedev), village and title. Great for any collection or as a box to hold a special pen or pencil.
