Against a brilliant golden background, a shimmering golden eagle scans the distance with a watchful eye. The vibrant blues and greens of an abalone inlayed river add a bold contrast to the warm metallic tones. An elaborate church glitters, dreamlike, in delicate washes of grey, while the raptor's perch is given an extraordinary depth from careful strokes of rich brown and pure white, the gnarled trunk drawing the eye to the orange eyes of the raptor. The stunning depth of the plumage is painstakingly rendered, creating a dazzling realism. This box is made of high quality papier mache, ad is signed on its flush base with the title, artist's name, village, and date of completion. There is a hinge on the left, and the interior is red lacquer.
