A procession of ships under full sail parade before a seaside fortress and into the misty blue dawn under the watchful eye of a horse shaped finial atop the palace eaves. Hazy waves crest at the bottom of the scene, a reminder of the strength of the sea, licking at the base of the softly shimmering walls. Abstract curves of mother of pearl and baroque pearls glitter along the sides, creating dimensional reefs, while large schools of shadowy stingrays play along a seabed littered with shipwrecks. Faint white currents swirl through the underwater scene, sweeping past treasure chests and barrels scattered along the ocean floor. This box is made of high quality papier mache and is signed on its flush base with the title, artist's name (A. Chirkov), village, and date of completion. There is a hinge at the top, and the interior is red lacquer.
