Against a sky of icy blue, a pair of young women stand beneath the slender branches of a winterbare tree. The nearest, a personification of winter, wears a smile on her icy visage, her frosty cheeks rosy. Just beyond her stands the personification of spring, gently holding a sprig of early berries in a bare hand unbothered by cold. The soft violet tones of her outfit whisper of blossoms while winter's blue and green garb calls to mind snowbanks and evergreens. The scene is well painted in soft, sentimental colors, with shimmering mother of pearl accents. The scene continues onto the sides, with delicate branches trailing from the lid. This box is made of high quality papier mache and is signed discreetly on the lid with the artist's name (Pichugina) and village. There is a hinge on the left, and the interior is deep red lacquer. The base of this piece is flush.
