Ivanushka (c.1998)from Kholui by KiryanovDimensions: 5.00" x 1.50" x 8.00"(12.70 x 3.81 x 20.32 cm) Inspired by the fairytales: The Frog Princess Gallery Price: $ 385.00 Internet Price: $ 325.00 Currently available |
Ivan's right hand is raised to his heart, and his left falls helplessly down, holding the ill-fated bow in it; he stands astonished at the view of his wife-to-be: a frog. The frog appears to smile, and streaks of gold emanage from her in all directions, hinting at her concealed magical nature. A white water lilly nearby adds a touch of gentle elegance to the marshy habitat of the princess. The scene, with the towers of the kingdom visible in the distance, is painted in traditional Kholui colors: washed-off shades of green, pink, yellow, and red dominate the scene, creating a work reminiscent of original fairy tale book illustrations.
