Emelya, the focal point of the painting, is confidently riding atop of a furnace to greet the king. The king, on the other hand, has to adjust his crown lest it might fall as he is leaning forward in astonishment. King's close associates are flailing their hands in awe, while the village youth painted on the left are busy playing and dancing. The pike, culprit of this turmoil, is looking out from the ice-hole nearby. A lively, humorous, and colorful Mstera box.
The box is made from papier mache, and has a hinge at the top. The interior is red. Signed with the artist's initials, name of the composition, and village. Lacquer has thinned in some places on the painting, which makes the paint protrude above the surface in these areas. But this is only noticeable when touched.
