Guarding the kingdom night and day

The golden cockerel knows no rest

The beloved Russian fairy tale which teaches about implications of a hasty promise is beautifully depicted on this little box. The artist makes use of traditional bright red and subdued orange, green, pink and yellow colors in this composition. The golden cockerel attracts the gaze by the bold contrast of its radiant gold and red hues against the navy blue sky. The composition is adorned with a golden flower ornament.
This cute little box is made from high quality papier mache. It sits flat with no legs and does not have a hinge. The interior is red. There are two small dents inside of the box and faint scratching on the bottom of the box. Inside is a folded USSR workshop certificate with box details and a logo that reads "The Art of the Proletariat" (all in Russian) on the bottom.
