On the lid of this small cylindrical shaped box, Sadko catches a golden fish. A majestic kingdom rises in the background. Three sailing scenes, each boat packed with colorfully drawn men, are drawn around the sides. The box was done in 1981 by Palekh artist S. A. Paramonova and looks as beautiful now as it did more than 30 years ago. The box is made out of high quality papier mache and has not lid. It likes flat on the table with no legs. The interior is traditional red. Signed with the name of the artist, village, title and year. The talented artist, Svetlana Alekseevna Paramonova did this just two years after graduating from the Palekh art school in 1979. An exquisite work!
