Fedoskino artist Novoseltseva adds to her series of irresistible miniatures showing lovely images of women. (You can see a few others here and here.) In this piece, the flowers in the young lady's hair and in her hand produce a beautiful radiance created by the application of gold leaf. Her dress also has a wonderful glow to it, achieved probably by the use of crushed mother of pearl paints. Fine leaves, twigs and golden stalks adorn the rest of the composition and the light lavender sides. The bottom is gray. The box is made out of high quality papier mache and has a hinge on the left. Signed on the side with the name of the artist, village and year.
