The sun is setting against a brilliant golden sky, illuminating a woman, child, and cat on a leisurely afternoon walk in the garden. The child plays idly with the cat, while dreaming of his future adventures at sea. The woman's face carries a tender and dreamy expression, as she gently strokes the nearby flowers. The limited palette of warm peaches and golds, and cool whites and blues impart an overall dream-like, nostalgic feel to this work. Delicate sprays of golden flowers, echoing the white blossoms in the woman's hair, frame the scene. The sides and flush base are adorned with more brilliant, "reverse painted" gold decoration, with flowers and a thick border on the sides, and a smiling face among the blossoms on the base. This box is made of high quality papier mache, and is signed on the lid with artist's name (R. Chibisov), village, and date of completion, and with the same, plus the title, on the underside of the lid. There is a hinge on the top left, and the interior is red lacquer.
