A young woman is playfully inviting a man to her house, saying: "Kumanechek, come visit me." The young man seems to be taken aback somewhat, but follows the lady nonetheless. The couple is surrounded by a typical village setting: fruit trees, wooden house with fence, beer or wine barrel on the wooden table nearby, a little dog house, and its inhabitant nearby - a cute dog - peacefully drinking from its plate. It appears to be summer or late spring, and the energy of these vibrant times of the year is felt throughout this traditional, playful, colorful, and crisp composition.
This charming little box is made from papier mache. It is elevated above the ground by four carved edges, and has a hinge at the top. The lid is uniquely shaped into a slightly convex shape at the top. The interior of the box is traditional red. The composition is signed with the name of the artist, village, and composition ("Kumanechek, come visit me.") A simple golden ornament decorates the top and sides of the box. There is a tiny, barely visible white speck on the left side near the tree (something must have gotten under the lacquer during the making process). Otherwise box and lacquer are in very good condition.
