The radiant Firebird - culprit of Ivan's misfortunes - is painted on each side of the bell tower dome, surrounded by beautiful burgundy and golden ornamentation. It soars gracefully above Ivan and his loyal friend, the pony, depicted on the lower part of the tower, below the bell. Ivan is cheerfully extending his arm to pick up the pernicious feather, while the pony is anxiously raising its hoof to warn Ivan against it. The rich burgundy hues creeping around Ivan echo the light that emanates from the feather and enhance the ominous mood of the scene. This fascinating, richly ornamented work is a 2-in-1 box in the shape of a bell tower. It's made from papier mache. The dome part serves as a lid to the first box, while the second box is under the bell. The top part with columns comes off. Both boxes have red interior and no hinge. Signed with the names of the artist, village, and title.
