This tall half-cylinder box was done by Fedoskino landscape specialist M. Parmenov. The work shows the a countryside, dimly lit, with trees, water, clouds and a small path. On top, a rising sun, with a nice inlay of mother of pearl, provides a beautiful luminescence to the lid. There are details throughout, but the overall effect is more important here, and if you have a collection, it can provide a lovely nuanced background to other more flashy boxes that you might have. The bottom of the box is black, and the interior is red. The very top opens up and has a hinge. It is signed with the name of the artist on the lid. A lovely large yet understated piece.
