This image of an old man, who walks with the assistance of a cane, is truly alive with character. Observe his face and beard and you can see the signs of a long eventful life. Years have aged him and arched his back, but the enthusiasm and zest for life can still be felt in his eyes, drawn with remarkable intricacy (like the rest of his body and clothing) by Fedoskino artist Dokuchaeva. The box has a gold line ornament at the edge of the composition and another at the side. It is made out of high quality papier mache and has a hinge. The interior is red. Signed at the bottom with the name of the artist. A great portrait!
