A partially nude maiden skips across the surface of the water and sniffs the enticing fragrance of a water lily. Her slight smile and content expression tells you that she is truly enjoying the moment. Fedoskino artist Dokuchaeva painted this box with much attention to the human form, and everything from the nymph's hair blowing in the wind to her finely detailed toes just an inch from the water are drawn with great detail. The folds in the scant amount of fabric that covers her body are perfectly done, as well. The box is framed with a single line ornament, and there is another line ornament along the side, as well. The box is made out of high quality papier mache and has a hinge at the left The inside is red. It is signed under the composition with the name of the artist. A lovely work!
