Tulips and butterflies are drawn in exqusite detail on every side of this box by Fedoskino artist L. Davydova. Because of the use of foil inlays in their wings, each butterfly glows beautifully against the flowers and the grey background. The tulips' petals are mostly closed on the front, but if you open the box up you will see the petals starting to spread out and exposing the stamen and the delicate insides. The box is made out of high quality papier mache and has a hinge at the left. It is signed on the top with the name of the artist, village and year. A real treat for lovers of flowers and these colorful insects.
