The waves are high and a the sailing vessel in the foreground tries to stay afloat. The moonlit sea and the other ship in the distance, meanwhile, create a much calmer atmosphere and provide an interesting contrast with the struggle taking place in the foreground. Fedoskino artist Valyalin painted the details of this one to perfection, from the great expanse of the sea itself, to the tiny seagulls flying above it. The box has a marble like mix of blue colors on the side and bottom. The box is made out of high quality papier mache and has a hinge at the top. The top surface of the box has some scratches, but they are quite superficial, not going deep at all, and they don't affect that integrity of the box. It is signed with the name of the artist, village and year.
