An allegory of autumn comes to life on this gem-like miniature by Eduard Makarov. Brilliant jewel tones sparkle with rich metallic accents before parting to reveal the scintillating peacock tones of an abalone inlay. A flock of birds burst forth from the imagination of a lone sepia figure, taking flight for warmer climates, melting into the last fruits adorning winter bare tree limbs. Thick golden limbs laden with ripe berries twinkle around the edges and sides of the box, creating an organic border while showcasing Makarov's masterful use of various layers of lacquer to create depth. This box is made of high quality papier mache and is signed on the flush base with the title, artist's name, village, and date of completion. There is hinge at the top, and the interior is deep red lacquer.
