A flotilla of tiny full sailed ships bob along the sea on the sides of this delightful miniature by Mikhail Nebogatov. Gulls swoop over the vessels, promising land close by. The lid features Prince Gvidon and the enchanted Swan Princess standing at the water's edge, waiting to welcome the ships, which caryy Gvidon's long lost father, Tsar Saltan, and his men. This box is made of high quality papier mache and is signed on the base with the artist's name, village, and date of completion. There is no hinge, and the interior is red lacquer. It rests on three legs.
