The husband and wife team of K. and S. Komogorovy painted this magnificent piece with beautiful colors and unbounded creativity. A fairy sits in the autumn woods and holds an owl in her hand. The bird is one of the finest we've seen with its colorful and intricate features. The owl is positioned right next to a wavy mirror that gives a glimpse of the near future that is sure to be - namely, a winter with lots of snow. Neither the fairy nor the owl are much worried, though, and take it all with a good dose of equanimity. They know that as magical as they are, they can't change mother nature and the seasons to come. Although the fairy and owl are out in the open, the densely packed collection of trees near them give one the sense that they are in a closed room, and the window, surrealistic as it is, adds to this feeling. A band of gold with red and black lines extending downward encircle the drawing and occupy about two thirds of the surface on the sides of the box. The rest of the box, including the bottom, are black. The interior is red. The box is made out of high quality papier mache and has a hinge at the left. It is signed at the bottom with the name of the artists, village and title.
