The cold image of Old Man Winter appears phantom-like through a pair of snow covered trees. This guardian of winter can be cruel or kind, it just depends on how you treat him. This girl is very sweet, though, and Old Man Winter rewards her with jewels and a warm coat. The composition is nicely painted and has a mostly a silvery sheen to it, with the exception of the girl and treasure chest which are painted in gold and red. The sides and bottom are black, the interior is red. The box has a hinge at the left. It is made out of high quality paper mache. It is signed with the name of the artist (Kozlova) and the village.
