The magnificent golden leaves of autumn dominate the landscape of this gorgeous piece by Fedoskino artist Viacheslov Svyatchenkov. A small group of people with a picnic basket can be seen enjoying the setting, along with a dog who looks to be in a particularly playful mood. A sliver of water can be seen on the bottom left, and not to be missed is a lone fisherman there. The gold that the artist has applied to the trees is quite radiant, and nuances of other colors can be seen, as well, including shades of red, pink, copper and green. The atmosphere is one to be savored, and takes one's mind away from the frenetic pace of the modern world. The drawing is framed by a line ornament, and another one winds around the sides. The base color is black, the interior is red. The box is made out of high quality papier mache and has a hinge at the left. It is signed with the name of the artist, village and year. The artist, Viacheslav Svyatchenkov, specializes in landscapes and has created some beautiful pieces in the past for us. He has several boxes featured in two of the most recent books on Russian lacquer art: "Russian Lacquer Painting - 21st Century" and "Russian Lacquer Miniatures".
