A trio of slender birch trees glow with mother of pearl along the banks of a frozen stream. The frozen forest and undisturbed snow give the impression of peaceful silence, while a tiny bridge adds a human touch. Soft, golden light tints the thick clouds mauve, its reflected warmth tinting the icy tree tops. A thin band of gold frames the scene, thin enough in spots to reveal the texture of the painting beneath, but this is not terribly noticeable. This box is made of high quality papier mache and is signed on the lid with the artist's name, S. Parmenov. There is a hinge on the left, and the interior is metallic red lacquer. The base of this piece is flush.
